Really Wild prowls onto Marlow High St
Gotta love a new boutique opening! Marlow is the town du jour – or even du saison – at the moment. Everything seems to be going on there – it’s riddled with cool pubs like The Coach, groovy industrial cafes like Coopers, funky hairdressers like HairBox and awesome new events like Pub in the Park (first one this summer).
There’s also a seemingly never-ending dripfeed of lovely independent shops, the latest of which is Really Wild, beloved of Kate Middleton and country dwellers with its elegant tweeds and walking boots, but now cleverly expanding into cross-over territory – so that woollen three quarter length coat you wore to Ascot or that wedding last month looks just as stylish with a pair of jeans and trainers. This is the brand’s first stand-alone store after 10 years of trading mostly online and via pop-up events.
I’ve already been in already myself and had a little scout around on your behalf, because I’m nice like that. So what to expect? Well, the brand is particularly known for its occasion wear (think any British institution, from Wimbledon to Badminton and they’ll have it covered), but there’s plenty else to recommend those of us who don’t get invited into private boxes, starting with this gorgeous coat (£395)…
and the Liberty print silk shirts (£155) which would look fab with skinnies, culottes or this season’s high waister front-tie trews.
I’ll also take the navy Wyse jumper with the cute pink back stripe and bright detail cuffs, thanks.
And while I’m at it, the Liberty print silk flower dress below – soooo pretty, and very modern. You can just make it out in the central rail closest to the right.
Oh alright, here’s a better gander at it.
I’m not a dog-walker and therefore a bit of a skirter-around-mud-and-puddles but anyone made of sturdier stuff will really appreciate the fantastic Spanish boots too – slim fit and high (so maybe better for those besting 5ft 4ft – namely, not me). I really liked the edgier, shorter bovver-boot style versions.
If you’re new to Really Wild as a label, I’d say prices are top end of high street meets good value designer – think Whistles or Winser London. If you’re nowhere near this first standalone store you can also happily shop online – the website is easily navigable and sells most lines.
Let me know if you make it into store and what you think of the clothes – I defy you not to come away with a jacket at the very least. Consider that a gauntlet thrown down!
