STAY IN… BERKSHIRE
River Arts Club, Maidenhead
Who needs the coast when you can have the mighty Thames?
One of the big benefits of Muddy tottering its way into so many counties (er, 17 since you asked!) is that we have a raft of on-the-ground experts, squirrelling out the coolest, most useful stuff for the rest of us to plunder. Case in point – beach cottages. Thought about renting one this summer? Yeah me too. So allow me to lay before you a sandy smorgasbord from the Muddy regional editors – 14 beautiful beach properties for the bucket and spade brigade.
We do try to push the boat out on prizes for you to win, but we’ve had we had one so delicious it was literally bobbing over the water. But check out this lakeside view!
Another Place The Lake in Ullswater in the Lake District is the most ridiculously gorgeous, luxurious, stylish hotel we’ve seen in a very long time and we’ve nabbed a two night stay, worth nearly £800, for one lucky Muddy reader (and your plus one obvs).
New Year New Muddies! You can now, delightfully, receive your Muddy Stilettos fix in 13 counties – the fragrant Muddy Cambridgshire and Muddy Devon have just launched and my, they’re looking pretty.
I’ve been writing a bit about potential holidays on the south coast over the last few weeks and so thought I should let you know you about Glazebrook Hotel, an amazing place in South Brent that Devon Muddy ed Sharon has already squirrelled out and reviewed below.
The music festival season feels a long, long way off right now (although we wouldn’t say no to a pear cider if you’re offering) but these days you’ve got to book mega early if you want to be happy campers come summer. Many of the biggies sell out in a flash – we haven’t managed to score Glastonbury tickets for years – but the good news is lots of the local events still have availability and most of them are family friendly.
In a dry January – yes I’m doing it *groan* – when the weather has turned totally pants and half-term break feels forever away, I take solace by gorging myself on potential holidays. Hot summer holidays in exotic climes with Rufus Sewell (if he’ll only stop moaning on and on about how he desires me), cool city breaks with Mr Muddy, gorgeous cottages in rugged climes for walking hols with my galpals and for family time in the UK, something luxe but active, rural but not too holiday campish.
This review is a bit of a departure for me because it includes some of my (*cough*) highly professional vlogging. Tis true I’m no Scorcese, though I’ve improved slightly since my early car reviews when I managed to film upside down. No seriously, remember this?! Anyway, hopefully you’ll agree that my new vlog offers something immediate and helpful , so do take a look as it will give you a good flavour for The Maytime Inn, a stylish, quirky-round-the-edges Cotswold inn set in some glorious countryside in Asthall in the Windrush Valley, only six miles from Witney but somehow feeling very timeless and rural.
Fancy staying in the castle where Henry VIII and Ann Bolyn honeymooned? Thornbury Castle is a stonking 500 year old Tudor beauty on the edge of the Cotswolds, reviewed by yours truly a few months back (here, remind yourself!).
Anyway, I’ll be damned, and off her with her head …. er whoops, what I mean is, flippin heck, Luxury Family Hotels have only gone and offered Muddy readers the chance to win a luxe two night stay here worth £1000, including breakfast and a three course dinner for two adults!
