Colourscape – whoa, enjoy your trip!
This ever-so-slightly bonkers immersive installation at Waddesdon Manor is brilliant family-friendly fun. Prepare for sensory overload!
The second year that I’ve been to Colourscape at Waddesdon Manor and it’s just a trippily brilliant as ever.
It’s only on during the half term week, so ends on Sunday – but look, how groovy is this?
You can expect to get a bit hot and sweaty in the 56 interlinked blow-up chambers along the Aviary Glade to the right of the manor, as you navigate (or in my case, get lost in) trippy tunnels of light and sound.
There are different music and dance performances each day to add to your sensory overload, and after your allotted 30 minutes, you’ll pop out again blinking into the light before going for a well-earned coffee, a nose around the lovely adjacent rose garden and a play on what my kids call the roly-poly hill at the back of the Manor house (just find the parterre and it’s behind that!).
Expect to queue for a while – just remember good things come to those who wait! Let the kids run around on the grass while you grab a drink at the pop up coffee bar, handily at the entrance to Colourscape, and you’ll be in before you know it. My tip for the top – try to get there for 11am sharp, or at 3pm, when it’s a bit quieter but before the musicians stop.
As ever let me know if you try out my recommendations – I think you’ll love this one!
