A-list comedy nights in, er, Winchmore Hill!
Just a quickie, because I’ve spotted two new comedy nights approaching at The Potter’s Arms in Winchmore Hill and wanted to let you know about them. We’re pretty well provided for in the big theatre venues for A-list comedians, but this little powerhouse of a pub near Amersham has all the big names wanting to play at it, and in April held a brilliant three day comedy festival headlined by Lee Hurst.
I went to that second comedy night, held in a tent opposite the pub, a lovely intimate jolly affair with the brilliant Zoe Lyons headlining that night (she’s back at the pub in September with her national tour btw). It was a fantastic night, I laughed and laughed, and the fact that these big comedy stars were performing in a small tent in a rural village, eating hot dogs at half time with the rest of us, was really refreshing. Mad yes, but refreshing.
The Potters Arms holds comedy nights once a month on a Thursday but there are two special events approaching that I’d recommend you try if you’re close enough – The Noise Next Door, Abi Roberts and Ninia Benjamin for £18 including a main meal in the interval on 30 June, and then on 28 July it’s The Croft & Pearce Show, currently on BBC4 and previewing their Edinburgh Show.
