Congrats to 4Beauty – a winner in Whitchurch
I love a local success story on Muddy Stilettos so it’s a round of applause and a windy wave of the bunting to 4Beauty, a small beauty salon nestled against the roadside in the quiet village of Whitchurch, Bucks. Not only has 4Beauty’s beauty therapist Kelly Travers won Guinot Regional Therapist Award 2016 (I know, *oooooh*) – but the salon itself has been given Guinot Crown Salon status for 2016, marking it out as one of Guinot’s most elite salons in the UK. Seriously, respect!
Cue a speedy hoon up the A418 in the muddymobile to see what the fuss is all about. Whitchurch, to give you some perspective, is about 15 minutes north of central Aylesbury, a pretty village with some stonkingly huge houses that ribbon on either side of the main road. The salon opened in late 2006 as a way for owner Ellen to bring ‘a little bit of Mayfair to Buckinghamshire’ – come on, you have to love that kind of ambition! – and the salon definitely steers clear of any provincial pitfalls. Using Carita, Decleor and Guinot products, it’s bright, slick, and gleaming all the way – there are even plans afoot for a juice bar in mid to late May. Looks fab, no?
I tried the Guinot Hydradermie Lift Deluxe Facial which is Kelly’s signature treatment. It promises a ‘youth revolution’ which is quite a hard sell given the state of my hangdog wrinkles, but if anyone can perform miracles it would be Kelly. There’s a whole lot of seruming, massage, moisturising stimulation and funniest of all, a galvanic high frequency current that pulled my facial mucsles all over the place against my control. It must be a highlight of any beautician’s to perform this treatment because the opportunity for amusement is massive. though Kelly was impressively impassive. I laughed though – as much as was possible with my lip curling up past my eyes.
Obviously the idea of this facial is that the current exercises and tightens the muscles, giving an immediate facelift, and minimizing lines and wrinkles.
I have to admit it, cynic though I am – a the end of the my skin looked massively smoother and healthy and it stayed that way for a good few days. But like all beauty treatments, longevity relies on customers drinking water, sleeping well, eating healthily and returning for regular upkeep. As I habitually do none of these (baaaaad Muddy) things I’m in no position to comment on the long term benefits of the treatment. But I can definitely tell you something for sure – these 4Beauty girls know what they’re doing, and they do it at distinctly non-Mayfair prices – the deluxe facial costs £90, compared to £120 in London. There’s now an updated Guinot machine on which to have this facial – and 4Beauty is the first salon in the whole country to take hold of it (I missed out by a week or so). The technology was 3 years in development and promises less ‘gurn’, more comfort, and better results. A facial using that machine is an extra cost, but the £90 machine is still very much in situ if that’s more to your budget.
4Beauty nearly made the finals of the Muddy Stilettos Awards last year so who knows? On this kind of form, they might go one better in 2016. Go and see if you think they’re worth it!
