Muddy tries: a Time Out ARK facials
I’ve been hearing whisperings about how cool ARK products are for a while, and have finally looked into it for myself. Unusually in the highly moisturised sea of upmarket French and Swiss beauty products, ARK is British (huzzah!) and uses only natural ingredients free of parabens, SLS and mineral oil. Have you heard of them before? Well, you have now!
You can’t find the brand on the shelves in Boots or Superdrug, and in fact the only person you can buy it from in the whole of Buckinghamshire is Susan Aram of Time Out beauty, a superlovely independent beauty therapist in Bourne End, Bucks, who runs her business from a dedicated treatment room at her home. Here she is, quietly freaking out that I’ve just attacked her personal space with my camera.
I’m always keen to try out mobile and homebased therapists because frankly not everyone always has the time and money to go to a salon regularly, and I’ve found some really brilliant beauticians over the last few years (they’re in my Little Black Book. Now I’m adding Time Out to the list because Susan did a fantastic 80 minute Skin Response facial on me in a treatment that only cost £35 – a deep cleanse with steaming, exfoliation, eyebrow tidy and masque application, plus neck and shoulders massage.
My skin has been awful this year – spots, the lot – but check out the results! Miserable looking on the outside, superhappy on the inside!
Apart from killer facials, Susan, who is fully trained and insured by The Beauty Guild, also does the full gamut of treatments, from massage, Shellac nails, waxing and even Reiki if you need a spot of realigning.
Pedicures from £25, facials from £25, and a whopper 4 hour pamper extravaganza mani/pedi/facial/eyelash and eyebrow tint for £95, all deliciously timed for your party season prep.
