Muddy tries: the Guinot salon (Gerrard’s Cross)
Now here’s a sight for sore (and wrinkly) eyes. This Guinot salon in Gerrard’s Cross is only the second stand-alone Guinot salon outside London (the first being the Guinot training academy in Ascot).
I am a bit of a sitter-on-the-fence about expensive beauty treatments – no matter how much science they throw at it, I don’t think anything will really work long term unless you drink lots of water, get enough sleep and eat well. But I do have a weakness for French beauty brands because French women just look so goddam good and they’ve been at this beauté game way longer than the rest of us – Guinot has been going for over 50 years.
Is it shallow of me to say how much I like the branding too? Too late! Look at the salon, super slick and clean and bright.
My therapist was Tina, below, a woman who has clearly been in some kind of time machine, because she looked about 25, and she’s actually double it. I mean, WOW lady.
I’m not so lucky, so I went for a the customised signature facial treatment, the Hydradermie Age Logic (£75 for 1 hr 15 mins). A good move as it happens. Tina had a close look at my skin, asked me lots of questions, managed not to keel over when she discovered I never bother to cleanse and am totally sluttish with my moisturiser brands (whatever is to hand). And then she went to work on my face.
Make up removed, face cleansed, exfoliated, masked, serumed and face creamed, plus a neck and décolleté massage, and this was the end result. Shaved off quite a few years off the Muddy visage I think!
They’ve just launched an Eye Logic treatment that sounds good too – it targets the fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles around the eyes using machine technology, hands-on massage and a specially designed eye mask (£50 for 50 minutes).
I have come out of the salon looking in my early twenties – hey play kind, kids – so if my haggard skin can do it so can yours!
