Visit New York’s Guggenheim for £39.95!

Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest Architecture features here.

Child, museum, enjoyment... Not often you get to say those words in the same sentence.

Welcome to the Be A Good Parent slot at Muddy Stilettos.

Today I can reveal a seismic step forward in the idea of ‘learning through play’.

Yes, it’s time to wean your children off Harry Potter and Indiana Jones Lego and onto something that will help them with their dinner party anecdotes.

Lego Architecture is a brilliant series that focuses on iconic world structures, including the New York’s Guggenheim Museum (above), Pennsylvania’s Fallingwater and Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. Constructing these babies will keep your kids busy for hours, days, weeks even, as they absorb the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe and pals.

Frankl Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. Yours in 811 glorious pieces

I’ve been on the blower to Lego UK and they tell me there’s a British building in the offing for 2012. My vote goes to the Houses of Parliament in 2000 bits – not only will your kids be silent for weeks, but your husband will probably insist on helping. Bliss!

ah I’m in heaven – love this building. wouldn’t be able to let sticky little fingers on it though. does that defeat the object of this being a toy?!

We’ve been a few times with our boys – it is a fantastic place for a day out! You can also get tickets with Tesco Clubcard vouchers (nice cheap day out!). As it’s part of the Merlin Group, you get free entry with a Merlin Annual Pass too.

That’s a good idea, I didn’t think to trawl the Tesco club cards! x
