Whey-hey! Thame Literary & Arts Festival programme now up

Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest Art features here.

thame town hall

I’ve been watching with interest as Thame, my nearest Oxfordshire town, has pumped new life into its streets over the last few years with its well-regarded food festival and the Thame Arts & Literature Festival, now in its fourth year.

Cargo Homeshop, which has its HQ in Thame, is helping sponsor it this year  (*sigh*, we so love that at Muddy), a reflection of  how popular this little festival has become. It’s the antithesis to the big beasts of the Hay, Henley and Oxford Literary Festivals, with small venues and writers, illustrators and musicians making close connections to their audience, so take a look at the programme here. It’s not quite complete but you’ll get a good idea of the fun to come.

TAL collage
Hilary Mantel and Martin Amis are busy washing their hair in October, but pweh, who needs them anyway? The TAL offers a bijou eclectic line up, from BBC political editor Nick Robinson and Barry Norman (ah, I love that guy) to inspiring adventurer Felicity Aston (all above), plus harp recitals, lectures, and a highly recommended special kids programme.

The festival runs from 18 – 20 Oct. Just don’t say I didn’t give you enough advance warning!
