The Bat & Ball Inn, Cuddesdon
Muddy says: Casual pub for families, relaxed weekend lunches and evening drinks, and well priced rooms within easy reach of Oxford, each named after famous cricketers.
With a recent makeover, this warm and friendly local village pub in Cuddesdon, mid Oxfordshire is brimming with cricket memorabilia (it even has cricket ball door handles). The traditional pub grub is ideal for locals and families (Sunday lunches are particularly good value at £14-15 – trust me, your plate will heave under the weight of Yorkshire puds), and there’s a decent selection of eleven gins, plus a monthly rotating special.
The outside space at the back is really just a basic terrace, but opens out on to the recreation ground just past the carpark, so there’s plenty of space for kids to run around. The Bat & Ball also caters for larger parties and can arrange a hog roast with all the equipment and staff to have at your own venue. There are 7 pleasant ensuite rooms – handy for those wanting to explore the local countryside or head into Oxford.
You’re in rural Oxfordshire here with some lovely walks across fields and villages, including Great Haseley and Little/Great Milton.
