The Crown at Radnage
Muddy says: this tiny country pub is a Mecca for cyclists on weekends and punches above its weight when it comes to food, with its Cliveden House alumni chef.
It’s well worth the trip out to the tiny Chilterns village of Radnage to check out the newly refurbished Crown. The small open-plan dining room/ bar is a friendly spot, populated with a mix of ladies who lunch and locals in for a lunchtime pint. Whether you’re after a classic pub burger or a fancy-schmancy sea bass with kalamata olive mash, chef Chris Wellington, formerly of Cliveden House, delivers with his well-priced menu. There’s also a clay oven for pizzas, which are available to take away should you wish.
MAMILs take note: there’s a Velo Cafe at the weekend, complete with coffees, pastries, protein bars and CCTV covering the bike racks. Plus there are four B&B rooms in a quiet outhouse and two acres of back garden in which the kids can cut loose.
