Peterley Manor Farm, Great Missenden
Muddy says: PYO, plant nursery, Christmas tree supplier, gorgeous yurt café, oh and Best Farm Shop in our 2017 Awards – this Great Missenden farm has it all covered.
There’s been a trend in recent years for turbo-charged farm shops – it’s no longer a case of pick a few punnets of strawberries and head home, these days they’re bonafide day-trip destinations. Peterley Manor Farm in the Chiltern Hills totally gets that – case in point, the Wild Strawberry Cafe, set up within a pretty, spacious Mongolian yurt and offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. Everything is homemade and much of the produce is from the farm itself, plus you can hire it out for events (it’d make a great spot for an afternoon tea hen party we reckon). The farm shop itself has been greatly expanded in recent years, alongside the usual fruit and veg, you can buy local ciders, ales and artisan wines, and dairy and baked goods. There’s also a plant nursery for all your bedding, perennial, tubs and hanging basket needs – we especially love their brightly coloured ceramic pots. Also, drop by in December for Christmas trees, wreaths, holly and mistletoe. And for the second year running, Peterley hosts its very own food and drink festival, Feast on the Farm, held in October with Michelin starred chefs, demos, workshops and loads of delish food and drink to try.
