The Missing Bean – Cafe, Coffee Roastery and Shop
Welcome to the Missing Bean. The Missing Bean in an independently owned and run espresso bar, set up to bring the artisan Antipodean style coffee and laid back atmosphere to the heart of Oxford. Set up in Autumn 2009 by Ori and Vicky, who had just returned from Sydney, the Missing Bean quickly established a reputation for great coffee in a relaxed and friendly environment.
We’ve always believed in making sure we serve the best coffee possible, from the right beans, through to the roasting process and finally at the extraction, so in 2014 we set up a micro coffee roastery just down the road in East Oxford. We roast our coffee on a weekly basis in small batches over at our East Oxford premises. The Roastery is open to look around on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm, where you can see the coffee being roasted and chat to the roaster, buy coffee for home, grab a quick coffee to take way or simply sit in for a flat white or a drip coffee.
If you want to explore coffee further, on the first Thursday of every month we hold a cupping night at our roastery. Kicking off at 6.30pm we’ll guide you through the various coffees discussing the coffee beans, processing and provenance. We hope to arm you with confidence by allowing you to experience the differences of each one yourself through taste and smell. It costs £15 per person and we will give you a small bag of your favourite coffee from the evening too. Book your place by emailing [email protected]
The large windows at the shop look out onto picturesque and bustling Turl Street, a quintessential Oxford thoroughfare, making it a perfect spot to take time out for a coffee and watch the world go by.
