The Plowden Arms
Quirky, unique and unashamedly old fashioned…
Set in beautiful countryside a few minutes’ walk from the River Thames and equidistant from Henley on Thames and Reading is The Plowden Arms. The charming 18th century building is home to landlord and lady Matt and Ruth Woodley, their dedicated team and unique offering.
Step back in time when you enter The Plowden Arms; 1920’s jazz hums in the background, Victorian photography hangs on the wall and even the cutlery’s antique! Famed for its high quality food the pub specialises in reviving favourite and forgotten items from bygone eras.
On the bar you’ll find a healthy selection of ales and wines as well as the monthly forgotten drink; cocktails from up to 150 years ago proudly take this spot and are not to be missed. On the daily changing menu you’ll find dishes you won’t find anywhere else such as ‘Spinach pudding’ from 1738 and ‘mock crab’ a firm Victorian favourite. With a large and beautiful garden to relax in, children’s menus and dog friendly too, The Plowden Arms is one not to be missed for any occasion.
