Yew Tree, Frieth
Muddy says: A relaxed stylish gastropub in the beautiful Chilterns with a seasonal enticing menu and a real community feel.
Closed for four years the Yew Tree reopened with a fanfare and sighs of relief from thirsty locals in the pretty Bucks village of Frieth, near Henley.
The new owners of this fine dining pub have taken the sensible decision to remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, when business is slow, and to focus on providing a replete dining experience Wednesday to Sunday.
So expect steaks, burgers and chicken cooked over charcoal and wood on a Parrilla (Argentine) grill, as well as plenty of seafood and vegetarian options, a kids’ menu and traditional pub puds like sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble. The relaxed bar has a roaring fire in the winter and the garden comes into its own in the summer with dogs welcome. There’s an extensive wine list and local ales to sup with plenty of Chiltern countryside to enjoy before or after you indulge. An official Muddy review to come shortly, but for now feast your eyes on these pics and take a look at the website.
