Fego, Marlow, Beaconsfield and High Wycombe
Muddy favourite Fego is always a great lunching and brunching option, even when it’s takeaway only. The kerbside artisan crêpes include toffee apple, strawberry Champagne, and chocolate and caramel. That’ll keep the kids and grown-ups happy. There are branches in Marlow, Beaconsfield and High Wycombe with pancake stalls or you can order the full menu for delivery. Open 8.30-4.30pm
The Works, High Wycombe and Aylesbury
For those with a proper sweet tooth (or masochist parents prepared to deal with sugar rush), it has to be The Works – these pancake and waffle creations are off-the-charts bonkers. While the full smorgasbord of pancake-heaven delights aren’t available at the moment, there are two beauties for lockdown Pancake Day – Jammie Dodger Pancake Stack and Prosecco Sorbet. They’re available on Deliveroo, UberEats and for collection.
Crepe Escape, Princes Risborough
This family-friendly cafe on the High Street has a special pancake to lift our spirits this year: the rainbow crepe. It comes with any of the usual sweet filler winners – Nutella, strawberries, banana, melted Mars Bar… With delicious crepes coming in well under a fiver, it’s a dead cert for parents after a quick pancake fix. We’ll be ordering the Rocky Road crepe, which is chocolate brownie, mini marshmallows and chocolate sauce served with vanilla ice cream. Open 10am-3pm.

These guys are opening especially this Shrove Tuesday (lockdown opening is normally Weds-Sun) with two sure-fire winners, lemon and sugar and Nutella and Strawberry. Form an orderly (and socially-distanced) queue. Open 10am-2pm.
Pancakes at home a flipping disaster? Drifters has kits with ten pre-cooked American style pancakes (and instructions to reheat…what could go wrong?), plus maple syrup and fruit to top. They’re delivered contact free within eight miles of RG9. It won’t be with you for pancake day but at least you’ll get your fix.
Heavenly Desserts, Oxford
Crushed Ferrero Rochers, hazelnut gelato, white chocolate shavings… these guys have had a lot of fun putting together their pancake menu. They’re available for delivery (check that your postcode is covered) or collection. We love the “I’ll Have What She’s Having” – ripe, scarlet strawberries covered in warm Belgian milk chocolate… if you’re going to go, go BIG.
