Jane’s Teas – last weekend to go until April 2016!

Probably the quickest post I’ve ever written (sorry, I’m on the ballet run this morning!). A last-ditch reminder that this is the last weekend for Jane’s Teas in Kirtlington (near Bicester) until next year.

I went two weekends ago en famille, and it’s just the loveliest thing to do on an afternoon, weather permitting. Outdoor cream teas on the river next to the narrrow boats, with a lovely walk through the woods through a quarry to get there. I’d never taken Mr Muddy or my oldest bratlet and they both thought it was fantastic. It’s one of those secret places you’d never know about unless you have a nosey blogger like me letting the cat out of the bag.

A couple of things. Expect to queue unless you go very late in the day – I waited in line for 20 minutes to be served but it’s the price you pay for going somewhere special. When you get to the front of the line, don’t look in your purse as I did and realise you don’t have enough cash. It’s cash only people! Thankfully I knew the lady behind me in the queue and scabbed a tenner.

Remember it doesn’t open until 12.30. No point in going for breakfast, you’ll be eating stale bread with the ducks.

Finally, make sure you go to sit it the quarry afterwards. I know that doesn’t sound very glamorous, but the kids loved zipping around up the hills while we lay on our backs doing nada, and if you take the steps to the top of the quarry there are stonking views.

Check out my post here about Jane’s Teas – it will give you all the info you need and also a better flavour for the eccentric joys it offers.
