Muddy goes out! A buzzy night in Oxford

Outside TVC roof terrace

Last week I was asked by a reader where I’d suggest she went out for a buzzy night in Oxford with girlfriends. That was a no brainer for me as I’ve only just gone and done the same thing myself –  cocktails at TVC roof terrace on Oxford High Street (Carfax end) followed by dinner at Gee’s restaurant about 5 minutes drive up the Banbury Road.

My two friend had never been to TVC so taking them up there for some mojitos was a lot of fun. The weather has been so stonking recently, and I never get bored of the views up on the roof terrace.

Drank several rounds – because we’re crazyyyyyy – and had lots of half-cut fun on twitter getting readers to guess the drinkies ….

… and also had the pleasure of being brilliantly photo-bombed. Say hello to Muddy Stielttos, lady!

The music cranked up, the terrace was full, the sheepskin throws were laconically draped on the seats, and it was as close to being in London as it gets around these ere parts. There was even a bit of trendy flat-capping going on (I know, *thud*). I think if we hadn’t already booked dinner we would have just stayed there all night and got thunderously drunk but the Muddy belly requires padding (yes, even more, thanks very much for asking).

So we skidded off down the road to Gee’s, where I used to eat as an undergraduate when it wasn’t nearly as chi-chi as it is now. Now it’s superslick, very beautiful inside with glass everywhere and funky lighting…

By 12 o’clock and two bottles of wine later, we’d had enough of being young and trendy. Well, trendy. Oh hang on, not even that . Well anyway, we headed home, and I was back at Muddy Snuggle Central by 12.30am.

Another hard day at the office. Really, I don’t know why I do it.
