It’s a match made in heaven – J.W. Anderson’s wondrously cool designs at Uniqlo prices. Let's go shopping.
J.W. Anderson, the baby-faced Irish designer with a flair for cool cuts whose collections generally retail north of the £500 mark, has made me sooo happy with his new range for Uniqlo, which he describes as an edit of his fave classic British pieces. And I want to share the joy.
I mean, just look at this trench coat. Burberry, frankly, can eat its heart out – why spend £1,500, when you can get this for only £139.90? It’s reversible too, for those of you who like to rock a bit of a Bay City Rollers look.
And then how about this snuggly duffle? I’m gunning for the red one.
Also worth checking out to-die-for trousers (check out the high-waisted, wide-legged, pinstriped trews that channel Lauren Hutton), and also the head-turning nattily cut skirts – I saw a girl wearing one and did actually turn and stare at her! This one below was the one that caught my eye and the same cut also comes in denim, black and grey pinstripe.
Tops don’t disappoint either. Check out this super-cute blouse (which also comes in white and blue stripe like the skirt, above) and this turtle neck with ties at the cuffs (also in cream, black, and yellow, red, blue and black stripe).
And to finish off the look, great value college scarves (glad to see those back, I have a gazillion of them from my college days) and padded backpacks.
If you can’t get to one of the London stores, your closest bricks-and-mortar option is probably Westfield in Shepherd’s Bush, but otherwise, pop the cork and browse from the sofa – everything is online, which means you’re only a few clicks away from a whole new stylish wardrobe.
(Oh yeah, there’s clothes for him too, but, hey, he can get his own.)
