Treat me! 20 buys for £20 or less
In need of a pick me up? Here’s our wishlist of the most fashionable self-gifting ideas, from interiors and booze to beauty and accessories, that won’t break the bank.
I’m totally in love with this quirky, art deco inspired mirror available online from Graham & Green. It’s an absolute steal at under £20 – I’m putting mine by the treats cupboard so the kids know I’m always watching.
Times like these call for gin (lots of it) and in beautiful glasses, of course. These pretty blush pink goblets, with gold foil detail, are from Oliver Bonas.
There’s no point in splurging on an expensive fragrance right now, so instead how about trying one of Zara’s brilliantly affordable scents? I’m opting for Gardenia – a heady mix of orange blossom, coffee and vanilla – that’s a dead ringer for YSL’s Black Opium.
I’ve become very particular about handwash and creams in lockdown – mostly because so many of them dry my skin so much, but this one’s a goodie – a plant-based aloe vera, peppermint and patchouli hand and body wash from Oxfordshire-based organic beauty brand Ermana. The glass apothecary bottle will look really stylish on the bathroom side too.
Reading more in lockdown? Keep your place in style with this gold handmade brass bookmark, from Anthropologie, inspired by luscious Greek gardens.
Who hasn’t fallen in love with Essie nail polish? The formula glides on really beautifully and doesn’t chip for ages. I’m loving this pretty lilac shade that’s bang on trend for spring.
Feeling fruity? Pop one of these gin liqueurs from Bucks-based Foxdenton Estate in your glass – after all, they’ve had four generations to perfect it. Flavours on offer include Raspberry, Rhubarb, Winslow Plum and Golden Apricot, but we’ll be adding this super-fresh Lemon & Cucumber flavour to our cart to pair with sparkling elderflower.

Shake it up
Drinking your way through lockdown? This stylish copper cocktail shaker, from John Lewis, should help with handy recipes written down the side. Margarita for me, please.
Oooh, fluffy! It may be getting warmer but slippers are a must for mooching around the house in my book. These playful fluffy flip flops, from Boux Avenue, strike a happy medium.
Get your priorities straight
Sounds about right! This bright design, from Oxfordshire-based Mrs B Designs, is made with recycled paper and card for extra eco cred.
Zoom call with the girls? These gorgeous gold leaf drop earrings are a dead cert for making a statement on screen. Available from & Other Stories.
Light it up
Your house may not be spick and span 24/7 at the moment (and, hey, that’s okay), but it can smell like it with this luxe scented candle from Beauty Pie. Expect hits of lavender, freesia, magnolia and fresh white cotton. It comes in at under £20 for members.
You’ve been served
A fresh salad in the garden on a warm day always tastes divine, even more so when it’s served in a stylish bowl like this mango wood number from H&M home.
Multi-award-winning skincare brand Balance Me has built its reputation on totally natural products backed by serious scientific credibility. Lucky for us, the brand has a whole range of goodies at twenty quid and under – I’m mainlining this beautifully packaged Wonder Eye Cream, with pumping hyaluronic acid and nourishing cucumber oil.
Thirty quid on a water bottle? No thanks. This one from sustainable brand Dopper is a great alternative. It comes in a variety of colours, plus you’re doing your bit for the planet as it’s manufactured climate-neutral.
You definitely won’t lose your spot on the sand with this playful and bright zig zag beach towel. Perfect for drying off after a dip in the sea or, you know, just sunbathing on in the garden. Available from M&S.
Nothing says treat yourself like eating your weight in chocolate. Acquaint yourself with these indulgent caramel-filled buttons from Thame and Wendover-based Rumsey’s chocolatier – delivered straight to your door.
How do you hang wallpaper? Arrange a gallery wall? Choose a mattress? All your burning interior Qs and decor dilemmas (101 to be exact) are answered in this bestseller from the author of Mad About the House, the UK’s No. 1 interiors blog.

Pack it in
If you’re a serial over-packer (you never know when the kitchen sink will actually come in handy, right?), this spacious 100% cotton beach bag, from H&M, should do the trick. The bag also comes in beige and grey, but I’m loving this striped deck chair blue.
