New make up academy at Pinewood!!
Well, well, well! Just a quickie to let you know some exciting news. A brand new state-of-the-art theatrical make up school is opening in the next few months at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. Called The Iver Academy, its timing couldn’t be better, with the recent closure of leading make up school Greasepaint in London.
The brains behind The Iver Academy is Tamsin Barbosa, who’s worked as a make-up artist to the A-list celebs ( Judi Dench and Colin Firth to Eva Green and Maggie Gyllenhaal) and films from Malificent to Into the Woods.
I know Tamsin because not only does she run the brilliant Bucks Make Up Studio from her home in Wendover, but I have also employed her to tickle the Muddy bonce and face into shape for the big occasions! She’s fabulous, I’m really excited for her.
There’s a public open day on Saturday 11 July, for those who might be interested in enrolling – maybe a change of direction for you, or something for your film/make-up crazy kids to think about studying? The Academy will be running courses between five days’ and 30 weeks’ duration, specialising in make-up and hair design for the TV, theatre, film and fashion industries, so there’s masses of scope.
If you don’t make it to the open day don’t worry – I’m planning to go behind the scenes at some point this summer and will duly report back.I expect to sit in a make up chair and then step off again looking exactly like Angelina Jolie. No pressure Tamsin, no pressure.
