I’ve been ombréd!

Holy craparoo, I've turned blonde! Read on to see how Beaconsfield's Tom Bishop Hair rock-chicked me.

What you’re about to see is a mid-life crisis, beautifully follicularised with some serious blondage. I thought this would be a new way to showcase the best hairdressers in the region because let’s face it – what we really care about is the Before and After isn’t it?!

So here we go, first up to the chair for this new-style feature is the fantastic hairdressers in Beaconsfield, Tom Bishop Hair.

THE BRIEF: To stop me looking like a middle-aged frump

THE SALON:

Tom Bishop Hair in Beaconsfield is still relatively new – it launched late in 2014 – but it’s one of the loveliest haircutting experiences in the area. It’s a small, super-friendly salon, and Tom has serious creds, having won the Schwarzkopf Creative Awards Best Team at Sanrizz in 2006. I like the way Tom has his definitive ‘look’ too – always smart in a shirt and tie. Off the high street in the Old Town so still a bit of a secret in some quarters, the salon is bright, modern and attractive. Next door to a Brasserie Blanc (handy!), around the corner from Turquoise Holidays (handy!) and next to stylish menswear store Burrows & Hare (er, maybe a bit handy). No bells and whistles here, just a lovely relaxing experience.

HOW THEY DID IT:

THE SNIP (Tom, owner) – I strengthened up the shape to promote weight and body of Hero’s hair as it’s quite fine  so too much layering would have weakened the look. Also in this hairstyle the colour was the star so we kept the cut with clean and simple to accentuate that.

THE COLOUR (Suzannah) – We could have gone anywhere on that blonde spectrum with Hero’s hair but we toned her initial ideas of ‘punk’ down as reality set in! I pre-lightened Hero’s in an ombre style then toned it to achieve the target colour. If Hero hadn’t been happy with that colour, it would have easy to increase or decrease the colour again with the toner, so a radical colour change like this shouldn’t put you off if you’re desperate to try something new.

Right then, you wanna see it? Yeah baby, it’s rock chick ombré central!!

THE COST: A cut with Tom costs £60 so that’s a total snip (yeah I know, it’s the way I tell em). ‘Creative colour’ as it’s called in the price plan is quotation based, depending on what you want and how much of it is required. A similar ombré to mine would cost you £80.

I’m now totally sold on dying my hair so watch this space for a different look in six weeks!

In the meantime, if you – yes, YOU!! – would like your hair cut/coloured/changed courtesy of Muddy, send me in a photo of yourself, where you live, and what you’d like to do to your bonce – it has to be radical, so going from long to short, changing colour, something like that.

Having a trim just won’t, er, cut it. Your photo will grace this hallowed digital tome, and your new hair won’t cost you a bean!
