Red House Spa – cool, modern and in Amersham!

img_8253

I’m really excited to write about Red House Spa because I know you’re going to love it. This brand spinky spanky new beauty spa soft launched over the summer  and oh-my-G, it’s really impressive – I’ve been to enough beauty salons and read enough Orwell to know that, some beauty salons really are more equal than others.

Red House Spa has something unheard of in most regional beauty salons and that is a very cool style aesthetic. Retro Sixties leather and chrome chairs, cowhide rugs, massive pendant lights, chic treatment rooms and the most lovely lounge area leading out onto a private courtyard pushes this place into real pleasure territory.

Here, take a look. I wish my house looked like this.

Beautiful isn’t it? There’s also a large, bright studio for pilates, yoga and Wild Training, where you can buy batches of classes or  pay as you go.

I tried a really great, unusual facial using Anne Semonin products – I’d never heard of the brand before but it’s massive in France (and therefore we must trust). My face was given a Cryo Time Freeze, which admittedly sounds the kind of torturous treatment beloved by anti-ageing nutters like Sharon Osborne but actually is a skin brightening facial that uses 100% active serum frozen into a little ice cube that’s gently rubbed on your skin until it all melts in, and and has the delicious effect below. Here I am post-treatment  looking, well, if not 35 at least not 45!

There’s also a full Guinot range of treatments if that’s more your bag, and the Margaret Dabbs range of luxe hand and footcare, of which the Muddy feet were grateful beneficiaries. They did a great job of removing my gel polish without amputating my toes, and out I popped with some fire engine tootsies that are still unchipped two weeks later.

Red House Spa calls itself a ‘luxury health, fitness and spa lounge’ which is about right, except there’s no actual spa, just so you don’t think you’re going to get there and descend into a jacussi. It’s probably more accurate to say it’s an excellent beauty salon and lounge with added health and fitness elements (no copywriting award for that description admittedly).

There’s no doubt that Red House Spa is targeting the affluent, discerning end of the market and boy are they hitting the mark. I’d go back in a flash, not only for the treatments and the look of the place but for the attention to detail – the home made juices on offer, the Prosecco on the flow, the thinking about the small things that might improve your experience (yes please, I’ll have that top up).

The Spa/Salon/Lounge/ is having its official launch today (Thurs) from 2pm – 8pm, with 10% off all treatments booked on the day so go and have a nose if you’re in the area and as ever, let me know what you think. I don’t know about Sharon, but it’s a yes from me.

Red House Spa, Red House Court, 5 Whielden Street, Old Amersham, HP7 0HT. Tel: 01494 723 200.
