All about the artisans
This woven drinks tray has our name - and our G&Ts - on it. Introducing artisan interiors brand Craft Editions.
I do love a tray, especially at this time of year when I’m constantly ferrying food and drinks out to the garden. Well, to be more accurate, Mr Muddy is constantly ferrying G&Ts out to my sun lounger, ahem. I’m currently coveting this boho summery number (£45) by Design Afrika from Craft Editions, a new interiors site that curates limited edition, handmade pieces from craftspeople from the UK, Ireland and South Africa. This one is made by a community collective of basket weavers in the Drakensberg Mountains, using coiled mountain grass which is then stitched together using a thread made from recycled packaging – so basically it’s a million miles away from your bog-standard, mass-produced Ikea buy.
Also on a SA tip, I rather fancy John Newdigate’s lush, tropical foliage bowls, inspired by the Western Cape landscape.
Then there’s the understatedly stylish pebble cushion collection from Margate textile artist Kate Jones and I’m also partial to the handwoven summer blankets by Northern Ireland’s Mourne Textiles. The gorgeous site, which launched last year, has recently been featured in The World Of Interiors mag and you can totally see why. Great ethos, great style and reasonable prices considering every piece is handmade and has a limited run. Basically I want the lot, is that too much to ask?
P.S. Craft Editions loved this feature so much, they’re giving Muddy readers a delicious 15% of everything on their website – everything I say! Just use the code MUDDY17 at checkout from the 25 to 31 July to claim this whopper offer. T&C’s are on their website, if you’re that way inclined.
