No soggy sarnies here!

We decided to take a proper, fancy-pants lunchbreak at Muddy HQ this week. Bring out the candelabra!

Lunchtime at Muddy HQ usually involves a three minute al desko sandwich scoff – after all, an award-winning lifestyle site with 18 different county editions doesn’t write itself, donchaknow. But this week we thought we’d do things a little differently. Let’s take a proper break, we thought, and enjoy a leisurely, civilized, sophisticated team luncheon (oi, no sniggering at the back) in the garden. And – bonus – we found a rare interlude when it wasn’t raining!

Here’s the setting on my horrifically overgrown lawn, but I rather like its meadowy-ness, and the extravagant chandelier against all the natural wood.

So here we are, at our stonkingly pretty lunch table, dressed with goodies from Rosara, the chic North Oxon outdoor living store at Nicholsons nursery near Bicester. Isn’t it amazing the difference a few minutes jazzing  up a boring old wooden table can make? We especially love green tumblers (£12.95) that look like vintage glass but on closer inspection are actually plastic – perfect if you have children lurking, or, ahem, have drunk too much wine and keep missing the table. Take a peek at the Rosara website for more summer outdoor dining inspiration, or pop by in person to North Aston and grab some lunch while you’re there  – I wrote about their lovely yurt café here .

The only thing that’s missing from this idyllic picture? A Muddy HQ personal chef to save us from our soggy salad lunchboxes. Any volunteers?
