Want to know the latest whisperings in the area? Course you do! Here’s what we’re hearing on the grapevine right now…
Native Feasts Pop-Up
Those Native Feasts boys Chris (Michelin star chef) and Greg (all about the wine) are going great guns with their poppety pop-ups, and now here’s another one – this time at College Farm in Long Crendon over three weekends in July/August. It’s al fresco fun (weather permitting, don’t worry there’s a barn too) overlooking the Buckinghamshire countryside, and this time round they’re also offering a Sunday lunch spot in addition to the Fridays and Saturdays. It starts this weekend (already a sell out!) but there’s more availability at the mo for 28, 29, 30 July and the 4 and 6 August. £40 a pop, people, it’s a goddam bargain!
Hiddn Kitchn Pop-Up
A second pop up this weekend, and a brand new one, this time in the next village but one to the Native Feasts boys, in Cuddington. Chef Barney Wrobel has created a six-course menu with 20 covers to celebrate local, seasonal produce including rabbit and lamb. It takes place in a field adjacent to Dadbrook House in Cuddington, Bucks, previously home to Dadbrook Gallery, but if you can’t make it they’re also putting on dates in the last two weekends of July. Tickets £45.
A new restaurant and bar proposed for Marlow
A bit early to bring out the bunting, but just so you know, there’s a Lost and Found restaurant/bar planned for the old Steamer Trading Cookshop site in Marlow – surely nowthe most foodie spot in Bucks (discuss…). There’s a Lost and Found in Birmingham (above), Leeds and Knutsford already and they look mighty fine, don’t you think? I’ll let you know when I hear confirmation.
Two weeks and counting…
… until Cliveden Spa opens its doors and Muddy Stilettos crawls through the door desperate for a total body overhaul. July 17 is the launch date, and we’ll let you know our verdict shortly.
A huuuuuge new splash park opens at Willen Lake this month
Can’t wait to thrust my kids into this one. A 1,000m² splash park – one of the largest in the UK, is set to be revealed in the next few weeks in Milton Keynes, with over 60 water features plus a what they’re rather grandly calling a ‘bespoke water journey’ called The Race for toddlers. It will hold up to 300 children every session, so no need to put your elbows into jostle position, you’ll definitely get a place.
Winslow has a taste of Hollywood
Lights, camera, action! If you want to spy on the celebs, head to Winslow this week. The Little Stranger stars Charlotte Rampling, Ruth Wilson and Domhnall Gleeson, and filming will be on July 6,7 and 10 in the pretty Buckinghamshire village. The film is directed by Lenny Abraham (Academy Award nomination for Room) and adapted by Lucinda Coxon from the Sarah Waters’ 2009 novel.
