Green Dragon Rare Breeds & Eco Farm
Yes little Muddies, bounce. Bounce until you have no energy left in your bodies! You’re looking at the mother of outdoor trampolines, part of Green Dragon Rare Breeds and Eco Centre. It opened earlier this year on 44 acres in Hogshaw near to The Claytons and Quainton in mid-Bucks, and I finally made it up there a few weeks ago with my small ‘testers’ in tow.
Green Dragon’s eco-credentials are largely in the way the buildings have been constructed, so don’t go up there thinking that the thrust of the day is about the environment and sustainable living (though there’s a lovely little walled garden rammed with fruit and veg).
No, this is more child-centred farm and play area, and nothing wrong with that. Aimed squarely at primary school kids, there’s a go-cart track, giant trampoline and outdoor play area/sand pit, plus a messy play area (think indoor sand pits) an indoor soft play area launching next month.
You can also pet the bunnies and guinea pigs, and meet the rare breed animals.
There’s a traditional-stye cafe inside – slow service on the day I visited, but the my cajun chicken salad was very and the kids demolished their lunch boxes.
Also steel yourself for the gift shop, bang in the middle of the building and impossible for your children to resist.
So the upshot peeps is that we spent a very easy couple of hours here, and in the summer there are BBQ stations and picnic tables aplenty so you can easily do the whole day. My kids would love to go back, and you know what – I’ll probably take them!
