KIDS: Longridge Activity Centre strikes gold
My kids have come back from an Activity Day at Longridge activity camp just buzzing with how great it’s been so I’d better pass it on!
My oldest Muddy did it last year, so we have form with this Marlow-based activity centre but this year (now 12) and my middle bratlet (just turned 8, the minimum age to take part) could both take part.
Basically it’s a whole day of outdoor stuff, from zorbing to dragon boating, climbing to raft making, hanging out with other kids and just having The. Best. Time. I was slightly anxious about how the 8 year old would find it – she’s a very petite girl, sometimes really ballsy, other times a bit prone to refusing at the first gate – but when I turned up at 4.30pm she desperately wanted to continue for an extra hour.
Apart from its lovely location on the river, surrounded by soporific willows and the type of grand houses along the banks that make grown women weep – weep I tell you! – one of the great things about Longridge is that it’s also deliciously close to the centre of Marlow, so once I’d picked everyone up we headed over the bridge and had a pizza. I figured I’d spend the money I’d saved on childcare because, delightfully, Longridge is great value. Drop off 8.30am, pick up either 4.30pm or 5.30pm, and cost for the day’s activities (including lunch) is either £40 or £50. Not bad, eh?
The Activity Days are running all through the summer hols and they definitely get the Muddy stamp of approval, so if your children are 8+ give them a go and as always, let me know what you think.
