Ready-made party bags?
These clever readymade party bags will make children's birthday bashes less of a soul-zapping palaver. Where do we sign up?
If you’ve ever organised a children’s party, you’ll likely be familiar with the hell of cobbling together party bags. A snazzy bash, all their besties and a delicious cake is not enough these days, oh no – the little darlings demand a whopper bag of tat too. A bag of tat that I invariably end up assembling at midnight the night before, while weeping into a bowl of birthday cake icing (this is artistic license – I’ve never actually baked a birthday cake).
But no more! I’d like to introduce you to the amazing concept of pre-filled party bags. Whoever invented them deserves some kind of Nobel Prize I reckon. Not only are they a brilliant timesaver, but there’s not a jot of plastic-y tat of dubious ethical provenance in sight. Here are our favourites.
For crafty kids – Oglee Poglee
Who needs Mister Maker? These lovely little bags (£4) of crafty goodies variously include cards to decorate, rainbow crayons, sequins, pom poms, googly eyes and coloured paper, and will keep arts’n’craft aficionados occupied for ages, while you scrape birthday cake off the sofa. There’s loads of themes, from spooky to space craft, or if you’ve got an idea in mind, they’ll create bespoke ones for you.
For sweet cheeks – Katie Bakes
Budding bakers will lick their lips at the idea of these Belgian chocolate chip cookie mix party bags (£3.95). They come in personalised bags with designs ranging from dinosaurs to rainbows. To cook ‘em, you simply need to add butter.
For arty types – Little Tweet Stationery
Now this is a clever way to persuade them to write their thank you cards (often a painful process in my house) – this cute bag (£7.95) comes with personalized thank you notes for them to colour in. We love the unicorn ones – hey, who doesn’t love a unicorn? – but they also come in princess, superhero or monster designs.
For pranksters – Hawkins Bazaar Jokes Party Bag
A man who is tired of Whoppee cushions is tired of life according to Samuel Johnson (er, possibly). The little joker in your life will love these gag-filled bags (£3), complete with a squirty pen, noisy putty and that classic cushion. Now, who trumped?
For overgrown kids – Hotel Chocolate Goody Bag
Why should small people have all the fun? These sleek, sophisticated Hotel Chocolate goody bags (£18) would be wasted on Milky Bar kids anyway. With its salted caramel puddles and Mississippi mud pie slab, thrust one of these into my grubby, grabby hands as I leave your party and I’ll love you forever (sorry about drinking all your wine, though).
