The Russell Arms, Butler’s Cross
Muddy says: Reliable, atmospheric, dog-friendly pub with excellent food, close to some fantastic walks including the famous Coombe Hill climb.
We likey! This pub, dating back to 1784, in a picture-pretty part of Buckinghamshire, is community owned and has a strong reputation locally for its food. Inside, the snug bar is pared back and attractive, with retro touches like the metal stools – dogs are welcome here – and further back there’s a restaurant area that opens out into the small, attractive beer garden out the back.
Great walks nearby include the lovely National Trust Coombe Hill – work up your appetite and then indulge it!
