Calling all foodies! AY StrEat Meet (yup – it’s quite the mouthful, but I guess that’s the point!) is a brand new street food event based in Bucks, in various venues around Aylesbury.

The – literally – moveable feast pitches up in Haddenham and Weston Turville most frequently, but has three dates forthcoming in Thame in July, August and September, a new location we’re excited about. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for upcoming events. The evenings include live music (a Flamenco guitarist to accompany your taco?), DJs and a bar courtesy of the Chandos Arms in Weston Turville.

Potential vendors include Fold Me Close, a wood-fired, slow-rise dough affair (we hear the garlic bread is out of this world!); then there’s award winning Bokkie, which is all about homemade, authentic South African street food – that’s slow-cooked meat, curries like Durban Chicken Curry or try a Peri Peri Halloumi rice bowl.

Other regulars are Gyro World – that’s a Greek pitta with flame-cooked meat or halloumi. Yum! And Mexican vendors Baja Cantina for tacos, quesadillas and nachos or go Malay with Banana Leaf (my fave is the spicy prawns). They always try to vary the vendors so you get to try something different at each event rather than using the same ones.

See what I mean? My tip: make sure you go with someone who likes sharing, so you can try more than one. Us greedy gals have got to stick together.
