The Coconut Tree, Oxford
Muddy says: Pretend you’re in Sri Lanka in this quirky, friendly bar and restaurant, serving traditional Sri Lankan street food and their signature Cocotails at extremely reasonable prices.
This quirky, lively restaurant and bar in St Clements, Oxford, serves traditional Sri Lankan food and cocotails (their signature cocktails) with recipes passed down from generations of the owners’ families. Food is served as small plates so order lots and get sharing. Exotic delights such as Hoppers (coconut milk pancakes with salsa), Kotthu (chopped rotti with veggies or meat), goat curry, and ladies finger (okra) make this a dining experience with a difference but we’re also loving the cocotails, such as the Drunken Sri Lankan (Arrak, turmeric, lime, ginger beer and cointreau) and the fact they do them in sharing sizes too.
Prices here are extremely reasonable (especially for Oxford) with cocktails from £7 and curries for £7.50. The Coconut Tree is known for its parties and it’s a great place to go with a group of friends, plus there’s a garden so on warmer days you can squint and pretend you’re holidaying in Sri Lanka.
