Muddy says: An absolutely stunning Cotswold manor house estate, ideal for private parties, civil ceremonies or wedding receptions. I’m eyeing it up for my significant next birthday.
I’ve visited this beautiful country estate and I can tell you, in no uncertain terms, that it’s totally stonking. Situated on the Oxfordshire-Gloucestershire borders in stunning rolling countryside, Cornwell Manor sits on a 2000 acre site that includes a grand Jacobean house (updated with a Georgian facade in the 18th century), a petite Norman church, lakes, woods, streams and gardens designed by Clough Williams-Ellis who created the brilliant Italianate gardens at Portmeirion in North Wales.
If you want a weekend worthy of Cameron Diaz and Jude Law in The Holiday, the house (where it was filmed) is available to let for private parties and the ballroom and walled garden are open for civil ceremonies or wedding receptions. The rooms are fully kitted out with log fires and sleep up to 24 people, the ballroom seats 100, the dinning room has family silver and leather chairs to accommodate 16, not forgetting the sauna, tennis courts and stunning outdoor heated swimming pool to boot that has more than a hint of the Riviera. Frankly, it’s heavenly.
