On the prowl for a hot new supper club? Run by Durban native Shabir Ally (a.k.a. ‘Shabs’ as he’s known to his friends), Durban Spice offers dining experiences in Shabs’ home in Wheatley, Oxfordshire. A keen foodie, Shabs has over 22 years experience in hospitality and catering including operations at both Blenheim Palace and The Ashmolean Museum.

Durban Spice supper clubs serve fragrant and authentic South African food that remind Shabs of his childhood- curries, samosas, roti, chutneys, pickles- a rich blend of Indian, Dutch, Malay and African flavours.

Each date has a five course seasonal menu that’s revealed on the night, all made with top quality local produce with tea/coffee and homemade petit fours included in the suggested price of £37. It’s BYOB, with no corkage, so you can take along your own tipple.

Supper clubs run regularly at weekends (Fri & Sat), plus there are a few themed nights in the pipeline:

14 Feb (special five course Valentine’s Day meal with Chateaubriand, £47pp)

7 Mar (four courses, £40pp)

14 Mar (three course Bunny Chow, a hollowed loaf of bread filled with spicy curry, £30pp)

27 Mar (four course steak night, £47pp)

28 Mar (four course seafood night, £42pp)

Keep your eyes peeled for Durban Spice’s new themed Bunny Chow nights- three courses including the traditional South African dish that’s served in a loaf of bread, dates TBC.

Durban Spice also offers bespoke catering for special occasions, including private hire and outside catering.
