Edie + Po, Thame
Find vintage furniture and sustainable, well-made new homeware at this stylish Thame boutique. You can also take in worn-out pieces for upcycling, or learn how to revamp them yourself.
It takes a fine eye to fill a house with stylish second-hand pieces — as opposed to looking like you imminently need to pop to the tip. A fine eye, or a perfectly-curated starting point. Such as, say… a charming little furniture boutique in Thame? Oh, would you look at that.
Named after owner Kate’s two kids Edie and Harpo, Edie + Po posits itself as a little shop with big ideas. It combines a priority for sustainability with a passion for style, which materialises as a must-have collection of second-hand vintage furniture and ethical new homeware. You can buy pre-loved and upcycled old pieces, as well as sustainably-minded new prints and products. Essentially, it’s gorgeous interior style with a good heart — did someone say best of both worlds? Sign us up!
We’re already entirely convinced, obviously, but if you need any more arm-twisting: Edie + Po offers an upcycling service where you can have an old piece of furniture repainted and entirely revamped, bound by agreed budget. Isn’t that lovely?
No, wait — because this is lovelier. You can learn how to revamp the old furniture yourself, in one of the shop’s painting workshops, chock-a-block with wildly handy tips. (The all-essential expertise on how to make your upcycling efforts look chic rather than, you know, a bit Blue Peter.)
Next time you’re searching for the perfect new interiors piece, head on over to Edie + Po for a peek at its gorgeous collection of old and new items. Or, just have a gander online. Bag yourself some gorgeous, sustainable finds, as well as one of the best feelings in the world: being able to drawl, “Oh, this? I picked it up vintage, darling.”
