In a world of cheese portraiture, where everyone with a digital camera is suddenly an expert (eww, mea culpa) Oxfordshire-based Elliott & Powell truly stand out. I’m a massive fan of their photo portraits – they feel more to me to be still life studies, photographic heirlooms that are touching, quirky and honest.

Oliver Elliot’s background is as a fine art black and white printer, with his work included in commissions for MTV, Sony Ericsson, Phillips, Ferrari, Conde Nast and The Sunday Times. He has exhibited at The Guggenheim NY, the V&A and the National Portrait Gallery. Keri Powell has built a career around photography, firstly commissioning famous photographers, before moving into art buying at ad agencies and finally to Amsterdam to open her own Photography Agency where she represented four hand-picked photographers including Oliver Elliott.

Returning to London, Keri became an award-winning producer and together Elliott & Powell work to produce your finished portrait – from an initial consultation, to the shoot, printing, production, they’ll even install the large piece for you.
