Nixercise
these popular outdoor power-walking exercise sessions combine muscle ache with glorious rural scenery. Beats a boring old treadmill any day.
If you’re going to do hideous hill sprints and tortuous planks at least do them in gorgeous countryside, I say. Nixercise classes – the brainchild of trainer Nix Ticehurst – take place up and down the hills of of Wittenham Clumps (near Wallingford), Streatley Hill (near Goring), Ewelme and Henley. You power walk, sprint and do bodyweight exercises around the fields, copses and meadows, with each session lasting 45 minutes and many slotting conveniently in just after the morning school run. We all know you can’t beat a bit of fresh air to blow away the cobwebs, and this comes with the added benefit of getting you fighting fit. Nix is also big on healthy eating, posting tips and recipes on her Facebook page. And if it all gets too much, just distract yourself from your aching abs with those fabulous views. Muddy’s disgustingly toned marketing director is a regular attendee so do say hi!
