Sky Wave Gin
Fabulous award-winning gins from a boutique distillery in the heart of Oxfordshire
Sky Wave Gin was set up in 2018 by Andrew Parsons (a former Royal Signals Army Officer) and Rachel Hicks (a former BBC presenter) in Bucknell, Oxfordshire. The pair have always enjoyed gin but never thought of making their own, until Andy attended a gin-making course, was hit by inspiration, and ordered a two-litre test still on the way home.
Andy and Rachel now make five gins; Signature London Dry Gin, Navy Strength London Dry Gin, Raspberry and Rhubarb Gin, Liberation London Dry Gin and Spiced Apple Gin Liqueur. And they’re evidently doing it well: Sky Wave’s Signature London Dry Gin is multi-award-winning and was recently named The World’s Best Contemporary London Dry Gin in the 2020 World Gin Awards.
The Signature hosts 13 botanicals, including blackberries foraged from Bicester hedgerows (as well as juniper, orris root, grapefruit, orange, cardamom and coriander) and uses natural mineral water from the Blenheim Palace aquifer just 10 miles down the road. It took over six months, more than 40 recipe variations, and over 300 expert testers to get to the finished product and the result is a deliciously dry and spicy gin.
The distillery is moving to Building 105 at Bicester Heritage Business Centre so the team will be able to open their doors to visitors and provide a Sky Wave visitor experience in 2021. There is an online shop and list of stockists on the website.
