The Swan Inn, Ascott-under-Wychwood,

This Cotswold corker has recently undergone a major refurb under the Country Creatures brand, with a stylish new look and rebooted menu.

Sam and Georgie Pearman – the duo behind the new Country Creatures brand, which includes The Talbot in Malton and The Chequers in Churchill – reopened The Swan Inn in the beautiful Cotswold village of Ascott-under-Wychwood back in May after a chic refurbishment.

Inside, the 16th century former coaching inn has a luxury feel with bold colours and prints, and a mix of antiques and modern homewares, plus artwork influenced by the surrounding Cotswold countryside. There are eight rooms, each with an individual style and en suite bathrooms with 100 Acre Apothecary products made from natural botanicals.

The restaurant is a Cotswold classic with sandstone and exposed timber inside and a garden, created by Rachel Murphy, with fire pits for al fresco dining. The menu has been created by Sam and head chef Adam Abbott (CV: The Wild Rabbit in Chippy and The Slaughters Manor House in Glos so you know he’s good) and is full of classic British and European dishes made with seasonal, quality ingredients. There’s also a lounging area and pub complete with inglenook fireplaces. Fido is most welcome too.

It’s a great base for exploring the Cotswolds, with Soho Farmhouse and Daylesford Organic close by.
