The Crown at Granborough
Muddy says: This friendly rural Bucks pub offers superior pub grub, plus a large garden into which you can merrily chuck your children.
The newly refurbished Crown in Granborough pulls off the clever trick of providing something for everyone. Family lunch with the nippers? There’s a big garden with play equipment to keep them busy while you sip wine on the terrace. Afterwork speedy supper? In the summer, make a beeline for the al fresco pizza oven. Cheeky cocktail with girlfriends? See you in the wine bar and make mine an Aperol spritz, thanks. Footy and pint? Front bar it is. Dinner with friends? Make it the airy Oak Room.
The service is prompt, smiley and efficient – which is not always the case with country pubs – and the modern British food is uniformly delicious. There’s your trad pub favourites – burgers, fish and chips, and Sunday roast, alongside more adventurous fare, all using local, seasonal ingredients wherever possible. So again, something for everyone.
The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it village of Granborough is midway between Aylesbury and Buckingham, so if you’re hitting the shops in Milton Keynes or mooching around Waddesdon Manor, it’d make a safe pitstop.
