The Lamb Inn, Burford
Muddy says: So quaint it’ll make American tourists explode with delight, this 15th century former weaver’s cottage is a hidden Burford gem.
After a day exploring the cobbled streets of bustling Cotswolds market town Burford, you won’t regret seeking sanctuary at The Lamb Inn, an atmospheric, rambling haven dating back to the 15th century, and a Muddy favourite in the town. Situated on a tranquil side street, it has a cosy bar with exposed beams, flagstone floors and comfy armchairs, a ridiculously pretty walled garden that’s perfect for a G&T (OK, make it two and a steak and chips – I visited with my friends in June!) on a balmy summer evening, and a fine dining restaurant in possession of 3 AA rosettes. Can’t bear to leave? Then check into one of the 17 B&B rooms. Up higgledy-piggledy staircases, they’re all different – one has a four-poster bed, another a roll-top bats and another a private garden, but all have old school English charm.
