The Mash Inn, in Radnage, has created quite the stir since it opened on the site of the former Three Horse Shoes in the rural hamlet of Bennett End (just outside Radnage, mid Bucks) in late 2016.

It’s gained accolades and gasps of joy from pretty much all the national broadsheets for its cosy interiors, confident service and the vision of  owner Nick Mash, a local prodigal son returned from London to create  ‘a new generation inn’ – a place with no pretension, using locally produced and sourced ingredients with the food cooked on an open fire.

The Mash Inn doesn’t allow under 16s,  possibly due to that fire – rather than hidden away in a kitchen it’s in the main dining area – but it’s also true that the menu is grown-up and adventurous. The quality of the food (amazing) and the gastro frisson of seeing the chefs working away, chopping and prepping on an adjacent table.

There are six boutique bedrooms with kingsize beds with breakfast delivered to your room.

A dead cert for a special dinner or a romantic night away though please be aware it’s only open Weds – Sat.
