    Crazy Bear, Beaconsfield

    Muddy says: Understated, elegant, demure - The Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield is none of these things! An antithesis to the blandness of many hotels, this destination promises sexy OTT interiors, glam events and when it all gets too hot and steamy, a cooling outdoor pool surrounded by a terrace. Respect!

    Muddy says: One of the new Westgate centre's excellent restaurants, this sleek Oxford Indian brasserie is all about inventive, upscale cooking. Make mine the 7 course tasting menu, thank you very much.

    Muddy says: This relaxed, stylish burger and steak specialist in Beaconsfield's picturesque Old Town is ideally placed for working lunches, Friday sloper-offers and families and is aimed squarely at those who want casual quality.

    Muddy says: Londoners' favourite hipster pizza chain opens its first regional outpost in Oxford's spanking new Westgate Centre. The dough is delicious and it has a great roof terrace. Result!

  • Rossini at The Leathern Bottel

    Muddy says: A classy Italian restaurant in a strikingly beautiful location on the Thame in Goring, with free mooring for diners.

  • L’Ortolan

    Muddy says: Reading's only Michelin starred restaurant, this French-inspired eaterie offers menus ranging from a la carte to the chef's 10 course surprise (tip: wear elasticated trousers). Well suited for formal, special occasion dinners.
