The Muddy Awards 2016 are coming!

Award buttons 2016 Master - Bucks & Oxon_winner

Holy crap, they’re back!

I’m super-excited to tell you that the Muddy Stilettos Awards return on Weds 4 May for the fourth year. I can’t quite believe I am writing ‘fourth year’ about Muddy, I still feel like a springy newborn lamb, gambolling around all the cool places in Oxon and Bucks! But you know *sniff* I’ve actually been around quite a while now, and the Muddys are now established as the quality mark of lifestyle Awards in the region.

(I know, pass the hanky, I’m quite overcome.)

If you’re new to Muddy, you might not have come across the Muddy Stilettos Awards, but old stalwarts will tell you that they’re a fun, positive and thankfully pain-free way for readers to help their local plucky independent lifestyle businesses gain much-needed publicity. Category winners gain a coveted Muddy Award, exposure on the blog and local press, a massive love hug from thousands of readers and a rather boozy drinks party at Muddy HQ!

It doesn’t cost businesses a penny to enter the Awards, it’s superfast and easy for readers to vote and the finals are seen live on the blog with my natty cocktail glasses and their moving percentages, so (to channel Hot Chocolate) everyone’s a winner baby, that’s the truth!

There are 30 categories this year, including a couple of new ones – Best Local Producer (non-food – so think ‘makers’ whether it’s arts and crafts or a product), Best Indie Wine Shop, Best Book Store and Best Bakery. The full list of categories is:

Best… Art Gallery; Bakery; Bar; Beauty Salon; Book Shop; Boutique Hotel; Café; Casual Dining; Children’s Business; Complementary Therapy Centre; Day Spa; Deli; Destination Pub; Emporium; Family Attraction; Fitness Instructor; Florist; Large Hotel; Local Producer (food); Local Producer (non-food); Gift Shop; Hair Salon; Interiors; Jewellery Store; Independent Wine Shop; Mens’ Boutique; Restaurant; Theatre; Women’s Boutique; Yoga/Pilates Studio.

Pleasy pleasy please get behind the businesses that make a difference to your life, and make sure any of your friends or colleagues who are eligible to enter know about the Muddy Awards – the site will go live on the blog on the morning of Weds 4 May. In the initial round of voting, businesses can nominate themselves, and the Top 5 from each category will reach the Finals.

You ready? I’m ready! Let’s do this, people!

The Eden Cafe in Witney – fantastic freshly prepared vegan, gluten free food and the best soy latte for miles. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about their cuisine. Fantastic place to either grab a takeaway coffee and relax over lunch.

Kate Bennett’s Pilates studio in Cassington is amazing. She has a studio full of equipment and a lovely, professional fun approach to all things fitness. Had back problems for last 18 years until I found Kate and haven’t been to the chiropractor since. Lovely farm location too

Woodstock Pilates Studio. The owner teaches all of the classes and is a fully qualified mat and equipment instructor. Classes are the smallest I have ever found and Kate takes a maximum of four clients, less bums on mats and more amazing tailored individual instruction! I have been to dozens of Pilates classes over the years and without question Kate Bennett is the best!!!!

The wonderful Marco Polo Bakery, Wantage comes to our local market with delicious artisan breads – sour dough, light ryes and apple pies….Absolutely fantastic. Agatha brings the bread made by Peter, her baker husband, to the stall . It is always piled high, crisp and fresh. Most importantly it is served with a beautiful, friendly smile.
