Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest My Favourite Places features here.
Liz Houghton, 47, co-founder of Mint Velvet, opened her first store in Windsor in 2009. Now with 92 shops and concessions nationwide, Liz remains brand director of the company. She lives in Great Missenden with her husband, three children and Flash the spaniel. These are the places she most loves in the area.
The cricket ground at the Lee
It’s the perfect English setting, and I love it here. I used to go up there a lot, specially when my son played cricket on a beautiful sunny Friday evening whilst we had G&Ts with friends. It was a great start to the weekend.
Seasons deli/café in Old Amersham
I’m a fixture at their breakfast bar for Saturday brunch. It’s salmon and scrambled eggs every time.
The Bull & Butcher, Turville
An idyllic day for me is a long country walk with the family or friends with Flash (our spaniel), followed by pub lunch at the Bull & Butcher in Turvile. They do the perfect Sunday roast.
I love shopping in Marlow with friends and always have a good mooch around The White Company, Steamer Trading, followed by Fego’s for a skinny latte.
The Roald Dahl Museum, Great Missenden
I’m always searching for ideas for work. I find myself drawn to Roald Dahl’s writing hut, imagining how he found his inspiration for his books.
