Riverside Property Flirt

Well, hello!

A first riverside house for Property Flirt, and I’m already hooked. Oh come on, that’s genius.

Want to guess the price? I have to tell you, I thought it would be much more expensive than it is, given that it’s situated on Rod Eyot, Henley’s only residential island, sitting opposite the River & Rowing Museum and Mill Meadows.

So what we have here, property pervs, is a 3 bedroom Victorian converted Farrier’s cottage in brick and tile with Henley in walking distance (once you’ve crossed the river!), and Reading and Maidenhead in easy reach.

Views straight onto the river, a large sitting/dining room with wood burner and French doors leading out to a small raised patio looking out onto – well, just look at it, it’s a total dreamboat!

But you know, shall we cut to the chase? Because the extrordinary thing about this property is outside. An incredible view, with a  23 metre deep water mooring on the Berkshire side with a further 21 metre mooring on the Oxfordshire side of the island.

There’s an incredible 55 square metre raised deck at the rear plus a detached one-bedroom guest house/ summer house, so you can drunkenly raise your G&T at gawping tourists (er, like me) who wish they lived in your gaff, plus a neat lawn, and hidden away on the other side of the property, a small secluded sun trap.

Oh and did I mention the private mainland parking? And the inclusion in the sale of a custom built boat specifically for access between the main land and island?

Well now I have, and my work here is done. Get a serious price in your head, argue it with your colleagues, partners, or if your plant pots, hold your nerve and see if you can score within 5k of the asking price. I’m betting my mum that you won’t get this price right. No. Where. Near!
