Hats ahoy in Henley
Are you a hat lover? If so, you’re in the right part of the country over the next few months. The Henley Regatta is later this week (not sorted? read on!), and it’s ding-a-ling time for weddings and summer parties. Best of all, you don’t have to look slightly silly as your fascinator or posh floral creation goes soggy in the rain as it’s currently gloriously sunny.
To aid your socialising, a fantastic hat shop has popped up in Henley’s Market Square. Have you seen it? It’s Louise Claire Millinery, a sister pop up to the permanent shop in Wallingford. The Wallingford shop is massively well established, and stocks original designs by Louise, plus other high end designers – over 1000 of them! – for rental as well as purchase. The Henley shop is literally a pop up, staying until Autumn, but until then it’s open seven days a week, capitalising on our haddiction to headgear (oh come on, you try finding a word to match ‘headgear’, it’s not easy).
Let me tell you how much fun it was trying on the headgear, even though I’m *sniff* not going to the Regatta this year. I did get a bit silly with the photos, but sod it!
You can only buy hats from the Henley store rather than renting them but they have a really broad range of prices – from a couple of hundred quid for the big designers like Nigel Rayment and Vivien Sheriff to modestly priced fascinators (from around £12) and summer shaders, and a natty line in men’s straw hats too.
Craig, who part-owns the shop, is in there through the summer and is a right laugh, and not at all worried about people coming in to try stuff on, so go and have a giggle and play with the hats and see what you come out with!
