I love Liscious
Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest Interiors features here.
I wrote a post about this fab shop before Christmas but it mysteriously disappeared before I had chance to publish it. Spooky. So this is my second time around writing about Liscious Interiors but it’s worth the effort, because it’s one of those rare shops in Oxford that is a real original.
If you’re into eclectic interiors, Liscious should be your premiere destination. Its focus is predominantly 20th century, but the stock depends on owner and interior designer Fran’s current styling jobs, what she comes across and what inspires her. She’s absolutely lovely with fantastic taste, and she also sources interiors if you have something specific in mind – I’ll definitely use her when I finally get around to finding a battered leather slouchy sofa.
The day I visited the shop I spotted this fantastic art deco chair (above), a vintage burlesque style bikini, a stuffed partridge, chandeliers, gilt mirrors, old cinema seats, and loads of other gorgeous finds.
There used to be a Liscious in Jericho, that trendy stretch of Oxford much beloved of students, but rents went up and now all the stock is in the Summertown shop in South Parade, a heavenly road that also includes Vanilla fashion boutique, North Wall theatre, Sarah Wiseman Gallery and The Book House *sigh*.
The Liscious website is well worth checking out as stock is updated online but have a wander down South Parade one day. It’s as close to eclectic London as stuffy Oxford currently gets, and is a real local treasure.
