So long RoseanneRuth, hello The Oxford Wine Cafe!
Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest Bars features here.
I was in Summertown today for a meeting with the utterly fabulous One Ltd, and popped down into South Parade for a spot of indie-shop heaven.
But lo! So sad to see that Roseanne Ruth, a shabby chic beacon of chandeliery gorgeousness, is closing down. The shop, once rammed to the gunnels with gilt mirrors, costume jewellery and taupey soft furnishings, is now nearly empty. However, the lovely owner won’t mind me saying that there are still some fantastic bargains to be had if you’re quick – up to 50% on large armoires and dressers if you like that look (see below). The shop will now run as an online store.
The Oxford Wine Cafe is busy temperature checking its pinots and chardonnays (I made that up, but you get my drift) ready for its opening in early April. You may remember that previously on the site was the Summertown Wine Cafe that unexpectedly closed last year, but the area is so rammed of social tipplers that the Oxford Wine Company couldn’t keep away and so the Cafe is being revived. On your behalf, and with great reluctance, I will attend the launch party. If I can still type on my return, I’ll report back.
