Wouldn’t you though?
Tweet tweet! Look, even the winter birdies love this Christmas rug! It’s by Tolly McRae, a newish Cotswolds-based brand that I’ve had my beady eye on for a while that specialises in rugs, throws, wraps, scarves and bedlinen. The tagline for the business is ‘for lazy days and cosy nights’ so she just about had me right there, but the range is really beautiful and classically British in it own right. Case in point is this fringed heringbone rug, made from soft, 100 percent pure lambswool so it’s gorgeous as a bed or sofa throw, or if you’re in a house as FREEZING BLOODY COLD as mine (er thanks, Sixties insulation) as a keep-warm blanket.
Being a bit obsessed by popping colour, I love the festive cranberry tones of this rug, and also the lemon zest one below.
But they do come in more go-with-anything muted shades too.
In the summer, it has a strong leather holder so you can use it as a posh picnic blanket under a remote willow tree as you sip champagne and trill away about Juan Les Pins in August. Or if you’re having a Muddy picnic, have a fight over who nicked the last sandwich before your marauding WWE-obsessed kids knock the red wine all over your white t-shirt. Ah, the halcyon days.
Pure lambswool rugs £99, with leather strap £119. Free shipping and the promise of no quibble returns – you can’t argue with that LOL! tollymcrae.co.uk
